Founded by a passionate fashion enthusiast who grew up in Famona, Bulawayo, Lumiere is more than just a fashion label; it's a legacy of resilience, creativity, and empowerment.
Our Story
Our founder’s journey began in a small household, raised by a single mother who did her best to provide despite financial constraints. At 17, after the passing of her mother, she turned adversity into ambition, crafting her own clothes and discovering the transformative power of fashion. This early experience of determination and creativity laid the foundation for what would become Lumiere Fashion House.
Lumiere Fashion House is a proud branch of Lumiere Beauty Australia, originally established to serve the often underserved black women in the Australian hair industry. The brand quickly gained unexpected popularity among the broader community, leading to the creation of Lumiere Fashion House. Our mission is to bring the beauty of African fashion to the global stage, merging the best of both worlds—Western elegance and African authenticity.
We source our fabrics from Africa, infusing them with Western materials to create bold, luxurious, and unique pieces. Our designs are not just about fashion; they’re about telling a story, creating a bridge between cultures, and showcasing the rich heritage of Africa.
Our team, based in Zimbabwe, is composed of incredibly talented designers like Lillian Chasokela, Theodora Mhlanga, Mlungisi Moyo, and Assistant Ndlovu. They bring decades of experience and fresh creativity to the table, transforming local talent into global excellence. We also mentor young aspiring designers, taking them off the streets and giving them the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams.
At Lumiere, we believe in empowerment, both for our clients and our community. We aim to make everyone who wears our designs feel luxurious and elegant, all while embracing the beauty and strength of African culture.
